Eating In Season ~ Homemade Concord Grape Juice

Eating in season is the best way to consume fresh produce and while grocery shopping with a friend we could smell the fresh scent of locally grown concord grapes and this lead to the making of fresh concord grape juice:

Instructions

Ingredients: 3 pound of fresh concord grapes, 1 gallon of spring water and 1/4 cup of volcano agave or date syrup.

Wash your grapes in a water bath with veggie wash or spray.
Rinse and drain grapes before placing into a large stock pot.
Mash the grapes using a potato smasher and place the pot onto the stove once the grapes are mashed and juicy.
Cook on medium heat until it begins to bubble a little and reduce to low simmer for about 8-10 minutes, still mashing/mixing during the process.
Pour juice mixture into a fine mesh strainer over another large stock pot or bowl.
After fully strained, strain through a cheese cloth or nut milk bag into a large beverage container.
You can allow the mixture to strain overnight in the fridge or put on some gloves and gently squeeze the nut milk bag.
Place in the refrigerator once fully strained and enjoy within a week.

An Alkaline/Electric Plant-Based Lifestyle Inspired by Dr. Sebi Is Different From A Vegan and Vegetarian Lifestyle

What is an Alkaline/Electric Plant-Based Lifestyle Inspired by Dr. Sebi?

Is it the same as vegan or vegetarian diet?

What’s the difference?

Does this sound familiar? Don’t worry, many others are asking the same questions. There’s a lot of confusion about the difference between alkaline/electric plant-based and vegan.

There’s a couple key distinctions. Let’s take a look at food…

An alkaline/electric plant-based lifestyle is one that is based on the methodology and protocols of Dr. Sebi. This includes the consumption of natural whole plant foods the create the least amount of mucus in the body, including vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds. As the name implies, it is a lifestyle with natural plant foods as the focus rather than a processed food or animal-based diet. Processed and animal-based more accurately describe the diet of westernized societies and this type of food consumption creates a very acidic pH and has grave consequences overtime.

Dr. Sebi established a new standard in how we approach and select foods. Most often an alkaline/electric plant-based lifestyle is referring to one that is 100% plants and as we have learned in Dr. Sebi’s lectures he even advocated the use of the black bee honey in both medicinal and nutritional consumption. An alkaline/electric plant based lifestyle also focuses on the use of electric herbs to aid the body in healing and restoring itself from an acidic pH to one that is alkaline.

A vegan diet, on the other hand, is one that eliminates the consumption of any other sentient being or their by-products. This means no animal flesh (beef, poultry or fish), no dairy products, no eggs and no honey   I love how Dick Gregory, put it: “I don’t eay anything that can fart, doodoo, pee, or screw”

Depending who you ask, honey may or may not be an acceptable ingredient for vegans. A vegetarian diet comes with much more variety. Vegetarians generally don’t eat animal flesh, but are ok with dairy products and/or eggs. Ultimately, they limit their animal consumption based on what they are comfortable with. For instance some people call themselves pesco-vegetarians, meaning they include fish in their vegetarian diet.

A key piece to note in reference to vegans is when you look under the covers you begin to realize it is not as healthy as many may believe.  The foods we consume have to be more than ethically and morally correct. The foods we consume must resonate with our molecular structure, it must create an alkaline environment that will provide us with an optimal level of living. Many vegan are not necessarily eating whole, plant foods. In most cases a vegan consumes a very acidic diet that includes many unnatural foods. potatoes and other starchy foods, many processed snack foods and unnatural beverages can all be vegan. The food industry has caught on to the growing acceptance of a vegan diet, and thus vegan junk food and packaged meals has become easily accessible and increasingly palatable. These animal-free foods are still loaded with sugars, chemicals, fatty and harmful oils and un-natural salt  and thousands of other non animal additives with harmful effects on the body.  These man-made ingredients are not just appealing, but are often powerfully addictive. You can see that a vegan diet does not necessarily equate with a healthy diet.

In all honesty, an alkaline/electric whole food, plant-based lifestyle is not without room for further growth and expansion. Unfortunately the creator of this movement has passed but his legacy continues through millions of people that know the importance of selecting foods based on our genetic structure as well as for the benefit of achieving alkalinity.

It is important for me to say, this lifestyle is not perfect but I will echo Dr. Sebi by saying the foods on the nutritional guide are the best of the worst foods we have. There are foods included on the nutritional guide that are naturally occurring hybrids like kale, with gluten such as the ancient grains spelt, kamut and rye  and with  small amounts of starch such as the garbanzo beans/chickpeas but this is by far healthier than a vegan diet consisting of highly processed foods neither resonating with our DNA or creating an alkaline environment for our bodies to thrive in.

The good thing about the word vegan in many cases represents eating a diet without meat and with lots of fruits, vegetables, nuts, legumes and seeds. This is helpful in transitioning a person from vegan to alkaline/electric plant based, inspired by Dr. Sebi.  It is also helpful to use the word vegan when you are in most non vegan eateries because of what most non vegans believe the word to mean “frutis & veggies”. We are still making strides to get the word Alkaline/ Electric into our homes so that more and more people will know the importance of eating to restore the body to its optimal level of functioning. Continue to support us as we continue to provide you and others with more information on the alkaline/electric lifestyle.

Tofu Replacement & Chickpea Alternative

If you are getting tired of using chickpeas to make your breakfast scramble then I have the thing for you. If you can’t use chickpeas due to fibroids and just want to eat less of them, then I have the ingredient for you!
Soy as we know is not recommended for consumption no matter how they dress it up or package it. This recipe is traditionally made with either soy milk or dairy milk in some cultures, but in the African Bio- Mineral culture – created by Dr. Sebi I am beginning a new tradition using hemp seed milk.

Hemp Seed Crumble – Recipe

  • 1 cup hemp seed hearts
  • 3 cups of spring water
  • blend to make milk
  • place in a sauce pan and boil and stir lightly the entire time
  • The milk will begin to form and may even begin to curdle
  • After the milk begins to bubble reduce the heat to a simmer and squeeze in 2 key limes (remove seeds)
  • 2 Key lime squeezed – this is needed to make the milk curdle
  • Allow the mixture to cool and pour it into a fine strainer (place cheesecloth over the strainer) and sit it over a bowl to catch the liquid.
  • In the strainer you will see lots of curdled hemp seeds milk and this is what is used to make the crumble.
  • After about 2 minutes to allow most of the water to drain off, pick up the cheesecloth with the curds inside and twist to remove all excess liquids.
  • You will be left with the curds that will then be used in your breakfast scramble.

Make sure to order hemp seeds and have them delivered to your home before you run out!

The scramble

was made using the hemp crumble and I added it into the pan with my sauteed peppers, onions, mushrooms and plum tomatoes.

A Reflection of My Transition to Dr. Sebi’s African Bio-Mineral Therapy Program

black-man-cure

A year ago I shared this story with one of my Face book groups and a year later it still holds true and thought I would share this today!

I have been asked if this path is hard and what changes have I noticed since embarking on Dr. Sebi’s African Bio Mineral Therapy approach to eating. Right away I have to say this path hasn’t been hard nor boring. I am enjoying my new taste buds!!! It has been amazing to see the changes that are occurring with me overall.

For those that know me, know how much I like sweets and how I would often give up a full meal just to balance out eating dessert. I still enjoy sweet treats and I still eat sweet treats! The difference is I don’t have to skip dinner to have dessert.

12440659_10205999046604120_5224061708741569186_o

Nothing that I have encountered has been difficult to embrace. Once I fully got it and realize how harmful the traditional foods I consumed were to my body and to my futures quality of life, it was a no brainier I had to begin to eat to live.

Do I miss eating certain foods? Like red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting? Absolutely not!!! I would not have imagined ever saying no I don’t miss one of my past favorite deserts but I know I can have any dessert I want. The only difference being conscious of my pH being alkaline deserts aren’t going to lead to my demise but quite the opposite, there going to lead to my excellent health!!

My advice to anyone starting on the path would be to connect to https://www.facebook.com/groups/alkalinevegangirls/ and the other  Dr. Sebi groups, we are providing a wealth of knowledge. I would also encourage anyone new to watch as many Dr. Sebi videos

to help you fully overstand what being an alkaline vegan means and to learn of the many benefits from living on this path.

Additionally, I have to say have fun with the foods on the nutritional guide. watch cooking videos and learn to replace foods not on the list with alkaline foods and see just how simple it is to begin to eat and enjoy every bite.

To help make the journey less tedious we created 50 Sensational Electric Vegan Meals to use a helpful tool when consuming food from Dr. Sebi’s Nutritional Guide. To purchase the book click here!! https://electric-vegan.myshopify.com/

3 Things to Know About the Young Thai Coconuts

coconut-young-green-open-and-closed-answers

If it were possible I would consume a fresh coconut daily. Growing up I remember seeing coconuts in the home from time to time but they were always the brown older coconuts. I began consuming coconuts again and this time I ate the young jelly coconuts that had the skin shaved down to make it easier to open. A few days ago I received information from an Admin (Nia Swanks) with the Alkaline Vegan Girls public Face Book group with some hidden truths about the shaved young jelly coconuts. I will admit  I heard something about  this a while back but never to this magnitude. Here are 3 things to consider:

  1. To begin the shaved coconuts being sold are preserved with a chemical in order for them to survive being transported via a 30 day or more trip from Thailand. The scary fact is the chemicals that they are sprayed with may be entering the coconut shell as well as cross contamination when they are being opened. When you open a coconut you will always find a soft spot on the coconut to gain easy access, almost like the soft spot of a new baby’s skull.

Fresh young coconut green husk removed and shaved down to shell

  2. As if that information isn’t bad enough there is more trickery going on in the coconut industry. As I began to research this subject for myself I discovered how HYBRID coconuts are big business throughout the world and especially in Thailand where our beloved shaved young jelly coconuts originate from. Throughout history, coconuts experienced hardships from disease and natural disasters that left many of the coconut trees in a vulnerable state if not near extinction. The world government decided to aid these countries through planting hybrid coconut trees with the naturally growing coconuts in an attempt to prevent the coconut from being extinct. I was able to identify one of the hybrid trees by the name of MayPan coconut as well as a hybrid coconut company (Deejay Farms, coconut breeding company) that supplies many hybrid coconut farmers in Thailand as well as other warm climate countries. This company has provided much wealth to those that breed their coconuts due to the high yield and the sweet taste. They pride themselves on using chemicals to grow their coconuts to yield record high totals.

    Hybrid coconuts

  3. As I continued to research this information I learned another aspect of consuming these coconuts involves monkey slavery. Monkey slavery usually occurs on hybrid farms in Thailand as well as in Indonesia. The monkeys are used to work 7 days a week, 8 hour shifts a day and they are used to pick up to 1,000 coconuts a day.  The monkeys are stolen as babies from their moms and brought into slavery and trained to become coconut pickers. It’s reported that chances are if the coconuts come from hybrid coconut farms from Thailand or Indonesia monkey were abused in the process.

Here is an excerpt from: Interview with Sondra Tatum a natural foo-dist.

“What are some of the main differences between your organic Thai coconuts and the standard non organic young coconut.

There are two main differences, one is in the growing and the other is in the processing. First the coco’s I send are grown without chemicals and second they are are processed without any chemical dips.

Note: If the young coconut you are consuming is white it is dipped in chemicals!!! Not just once but many times. I’ve seen the process myself. The workers wear protective clothing when they process the coconuts. They wear heavy aprons and heavy gloves. They use long poles with wire baskets on the end to remove the coconuts from the dips so they do not touch them.

A natural coconut husk turns brown within minutes of husking so when the conventional processing takes place the coconut is immediately dipped in their chemical(s) of choice as soon as the husk is removed, then the coconut is sent to the processing plant where it is polished or trimmed and dipped again in their chemical(s) of choice. The last dip (this makes 3 dips total) is when the coconut is ready for packing, it is dipped again then wrapped for transport. It is a sad process to watch and the workers themselves try to touch the cocos as little as possible, if at all.

I know many believe the young Thai coconuts they eat in Raw food restaurants are good for them but trust me they are not! Also a lot of their food contains the coconut water from treated coconuts. I also know many believe a certain test that was done came back pure, but it did not. I saw the test results myself and there were trace amounts of formaldehyde in that test in the fine print. If you believe trace amounts are not harmful to you that is your choice but believe me it like a girl saying she is a little bit pregnant it just cannot be that way. It is so, or it is not. All white young Thai coconuts are treated with dips of various chemicals before transport and most, if not all are grown with chemical fertilizers with hormones added for good measure. I’ve seen it with my own eyes.

The soft eye of the coconut is very sensitive and very soft. If a coconut is dipped the chemicals they will enter the coconut through the soft eye. No doubt about it. The soft eye is mothers natures way for the coconut to reproduce, it is where the sprout grows out from to make a new tree and it is soft enough for the sprout to exit and grow into a tree.”

I have attached a list of sites I used to research this information, please continue researching and share with others.

Where can we purchase fresh coconuts? If you are in the Florida area there are coconut farms there. Also fresh coconuts husks on are available in some Caribbean markets, and international stores as well. I have located another method involving frozen fresh organic coconuts that are shipped.

MONO MEALS

watermelon

What is A Mono Meal and How Can  I Began?
A “Mono Meal” is simply when you eat only 1 type of food and you don’t do any kind of food combining.  Below are some
common examples of mono eating…
– Eating nothing but watermelon for breakfast.
– Eating nothing but apples for lunch.
– Eating nothing but mangoes for dinner.
– Eating nothing but kale juice for a whole day.
– Eating nothing but bananas for a whole week. For people who are used to eating meals that involve a lot of ingredients and fancy food prep the idea of eating nothing
but watermelon might seem bland and boring, and to others the idea of eating all the watermelon that you want is pure heaven,
and while it can be wonderful to eat the electric meals we are discovering with the foods on Dr. Sebi’s nutritional guide and all our energy to prepare them,  it can also
be wonderful to eat a meal that mother nature spent a lot of time and energy creating for you…

You may want to begin the day with melons and for lunch pick another fruit like blueberries.

The major benefit is resting the digestive track and allowing the body to heal itself with all the free energy. The key is to only consume raw fruits or veggies.
Another benefit is learning to appreciate electric foods and meals.

-RASPBERRY tea which has been listed below:
Anti-inflammatory benefits

It has been proven since ages, that drinking raspberry tea helps in reducing pain and inflammations associated with diseases like arthritis and gout. Due to the presence of the chemicals known as anthocyanins, drinking raspberry tea four time per day helps in lowering the amount of anti-inflammatory medicines that are needed for curing inflammatory joint conditions. Boiling 1 ounce of dried raspberry leaves in a pint of water for a period of 15 minutes creates a concoction that one can drink for getting relief from these pains.
Acts as a powerful antioxidant
The antioxidants present in raspberry tea helps in protecting our cells from damages created by the free radicals in our body. Ellagic acid which is found in the raspberry leaves along with chemicals like anthrocyanins and quercitin also offers protection against fungal and bacterial infections which helps in alleviating irritable bowel syndromes and vaginal yeast infections in women. It has been observed that drinking raspberry tea for three times every day, aids in soothing the mucus lining of our gastro-intestinal track.
Strengthens the uterus

Native Americans have used raspberry tea as a uterine tonic for thousands of ages, which helps strengthening the uterine muscles during pregnancy. It is also believed that drinking raspberry tea helps in strengthening contractions during labor. The book “Back to Eden” written by the famous scholar Jethro Kloss illustrates the benefit of drinking raspberry tea during the term of pregnancy.
Provides protection against cancer

Studies done on raspberry tea in South Carolina’s “Hollings Cancer Center” shows evidences that as the human body easily absorbs Ellagic acid, this chemical helps in demolishing certain type of cancer cells, specially carcinomas in places like tongue, colon, lungs, esophagus, skin and breast tissues.
Helps in strengthening the heart and circulatory system

Raspberry tea, which is high in its content of gallic acid and Vitamin C have shown to protect the heart and circulatory system. It also helps in slowing down the advancement of age related diseases and it rejuvenates our skin.

Apart from these above mentioned benefits raspberry tea has also been used for several centuries as a folk remedy for treating diseases like cold sores, canker sores and for treating gingivitis in persons of all age. This tea is also an excellent medicine against anemia, diarrhea, leg cramps and morning sickness in pregnant women.

However raspberry leaf tea must not be ingested by anyone who is also taking medications like codeine, atropine, acetaminophen, theophylline and ephedrine as it may cause nausea and loose stool when both these medications are taken simultaneously

benefits-Chamomile-Tea

-CHAMOMILE, meaning ‘ground apple,’ has been imbibed for centuries in the Roman Empire, during Egyptian rule, and in ancient Greece. Prized for its special flavanoids, chrysin, chamomile (Matricaria recutita, or Matricaria chamomilla) offers numerous health-boosting benefits. Here are 9 amazing health benefits of chamomile tea that every foodie should know about.
1. Treats Cuts and Wounds – Chamomile tea was used by the Greeks, Romans, and Egyptians as a salve for wounds to expedite healing. In a recent study, rats given chamomile flavored water healed faster than those who were not given the elixir. It worked especially well for burn wounds. This is because Matricaria chamomilla has anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antioxidant effects.

2. Helps with Diabetes – Some research has shown that chamomile can help those suffering from diabetes. It also helps with hyperglycemia.

3. Antibacterial – The antibacterial effects of drinking chamomile tea can help to prevent and treat colds while protecting against bacterial-related illness and infection.

4. Calms Muscle Spasms – One study from England found that drinking chamomile tea raised urine levels of glycine, a compound that calms muscle spasms. Researchers believe this is why chamomile tea could prove to be an effective home remedy for menstrual cramps as well.

5. Soothes Stomach Ache – Further adding onto chamomile benefits, the herb is a wonderful for soothing an upset stomach. Helping to soothe and relaxe the muscles and lining of the intestines, chamomile can help with poor digestion and even those suffering from irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

6. Promotes Sleep – Drinking chamomile tea soothes the nervous system so that you can sleep better. It has been used as a solution for insomnia for centuries.

7. Natural Hemorrhoid Treatment – Chamomile ointment can help to relieve hemorrhoids.

8. Fights Cancer – It’s very likely that chamomile tea can help reduce cancerous cells, although research is still ongoing to see exactly how chamomile reverses abnormal cellular growth.

9. Promotes Healthy Skin – With it’s anti-inflammatory and anti-septic properties, chamomile helps in clearing up skin irritations such as eczema, acne, and allergies.

Chamomile is known as a ‘tisane’ is any non-caffeinated herbal concoction made by pouring hot water over the leaves, stems, and roots of plants. You can make your own chamomile tea with other plants like lavender or tulsi to vary the flavor, or drink it alone.

There are many applications for dried chamomile including tinctures and essential oils though the easiest and most often used is an infusion or tea. For stomach ailments, muscle spasms, and help in falling asleep, use about one tablespoon of dried herb per cup of water. Pour boiling water over the herbs and allow to steep for about 5 minutes. Strain and enjoy.

-RED CLOVER, known scientifically as Trifolium pretense, is an herbaceous perennial plant that originates from Europe and northern Africa. It is a close relative of the more familiar white clover, although the flowers of red clover are dark pink in color.
Red clover is a common animal fodder, and it also has a variety of uses in herbal medicine. Many preparations of red clover are available including teas, capsules, tablets and liquid extracts. The flowers are popular as a stand-alone ingredient for herbal tea or as one of many ingredients in an herbal blend. In addition to their wonderful flavor, they provide many medicinal qualities as well.

Red clover tea contains a number of active substances that provide significant benefits. Red clover tea generally does not cause serious side effects in the dosages recommended by manufacturers. The most common side effects of red clover tea include headaches, rashes and nausea. You can read more about red clover side effects here.
What are the Benefits of Drinking Red Clover Tea

Isoflavones

Red clover contains significant amounts of compounds known as isoflavones. They are chemically similar to estrogen and therefore have effects similar to those of estrogen. The specific isoflavones in red clover that provide the greatest health benefits include irilone and pratensein.

A 1998 study published in Proceedings of the Society for Experimental Biology and Medicine analyzed the mechanism of action for red clover extract. It showed that they are estrogen agonists since they bind to the estradiol receptors in mammalian cells. This study also classified red clover extract as an anti-progestin, meaning that it inhibits the action of the hormone progesterone.

red-clover-benefits
Cardiovascular Health
Some studies show that the isoflavones in red clover may provide protection against heart disease. A 2000 study in Atherosclerosis found an association between these isoflavones and HDL cholesterol levels, commonly known as “good” cholesterol. The subjects in this study included both pre and post-menopausal women. Another study published in a 1999 issue of the Journal of Clinical Endorinol Health showed that red clover supplements made the arteries of menopausal women stronger and more flexible, a condition known medically as arterial compliance. Red clover may also thin the blood, which improves blood flow and prevents blood clots from forming.

One of the most promising aspects of red clover is its use in the treatment of cancer. Its stimulating effects on the immune system are one benefit; another is its phytoestrogen compounds that can retard or even kill some types of cancer cells.

The estrogen-like effects of isoflavones mean that red clover tea may help prevent some types of cancer, while contributing to the growth of other types. A 1988 study in Cancer Research showed some preliminary evidence that isoflavones can prevent cancer cells from growing in test tubes. The Medical Journal of Australia published a 1997 study that describes the role that the isoflavones in red clover may play in preventing endometrial and prostate cancer. On the other hand, a 2001 study in the Journal of the British Menopause Society suggests a link between isoflavones and breast cancer.

Osteoporosis

Estrogen levels decrease during menopause, which increases a woman’s risk of losing bone mass. This condition is known as osteoporosis, and is a routine consequence of menopause. A 2007 study in Phytotherapy Research suggests that an extract of red clover may reduce the progression of osteoporosis in post-menopausal women. This extract may also increase the density of minerals in the bones for pre-menopausal women. This evidence is still preliminary, so more research is required for the effects of red clover extract on osteoporosis.

Respiratory problems

Red clover contains resin, a substance helpful to the respiratory system. Resin is a traditional treatment for congestion and cough due to its anti-microbial, expectorating, and warming properties.

Anti-Coagulant

A substance called coumarin, used to produce the anticoagulant drug Coumadin, is found in red clover as well as a number of other plants. Although the anti-coagulant properties of red clover are mild compared to those of Coumadin, those taking any blood thinners should be cautious of taking red clover products in combination with medication.

Gynecological

Isoflavones in red clover mimic the effects of estrogen, which explains why herbalists have traditionally used it in cases of chronic miscarrying and infertility for centuries. Red clover is also considered by some to decrease the ill effects of menopause. It should be noted that increasing estrogen levels is not always a good thing and should be avoided when breast cancer, endometriosis or uterine fibroid are an issue.

Menopause

The most common use of red clover tea in herbal medicine is the relief of menopause symptoms. Red clover also has a long history in herbal medicine for relieving the symptoms of menopause, which is primarily provided by isoflavones such as irilone and pratensein.

Some studies including one issued in the Journal of the American Medical Association published the results of a well-controlled study on Promensil, a preparation of red clover extract that contains a high concentration of isoflavones. This study showed that Promensil reduced the severity of hot flashes in menopausal women as compared to a placebo. Red clover tea also has traditional uses in regulating the menstrual cycle and balancing the pH level in the vagina, which can aid in conception.

Red Clover for Fertility

Red clover is used in herbal medicine to improve the chances of conception, primarily by regulating the menstrual cycle and the pH level of the vagina. The Journal of Animal Science published a study in 1995 showing that red clover increased the weight of the uterus and circumference of the teats in pregnant ewes. These changes were attributed to the stimulation of estradiol receptors by the isoflavones in red clover.
