My reasons for fasting are to rid my body of mucous and to assist my body in restoration, rejuvenation, and to create an alkaline environment for my body to exist in. Review the attached article and outline of fasting and decide what is best for you and from there you will need to plan for the fast. If you are juicing your veggies and fruits it is best to purchase as close to the date you plan to juice so that you don’t waste the food or your money. You can juice your fruits/veggies the night before and store in mason jars or any glass jar with an airtight lid. If you decide to do smoothies make them mostly green. 1) Prepare Your Mind
Before you begin, think about why you want to fast. What do you want to achieve? It’s important to have the right mindset before you start or you may lose heart early on. Pray for discipline and a strong will to complete the fast.

2) Stock Up
Shop for everything you’ll need before the day you begin. Not having everything you need on your first day is a sure way to fail. If you’re doing a juice fast, for example, look at the recipes you’ll be using, and make sure your shopping list has all the ingredients.

3) Drink Water
Drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of spring water while you are fasting so you can flush away toxins and waste. This will also help you stay energized. Dehydration can cause you to feel tired and hungry. If you are consuming a gallon of fresh juiced fruits or vegetables you will not need to consume a gallon of water.

4) Go Easy
Gentle exercise, such as walking, is good, but don’t overexert yourself. Your body is working hard to eliminate toxins, remove damaged cells and restore vitality. This important work is often not completed when we eat regular meals. That’s because the body focuses its attention on digestion throughout the day. Fasting frees your body from this daily chore so it can work on cleansing, repairing and healing. It’s like taking a week’s vacation to thoroughly clean your home.
While all this important work is going on inside, you want to give your body the rest it needs. Take more breaks. Avoid exhausting work. Go for walks. Get fresh air and sun. Go to bed early, as powerful healing hormones are released while you sleep. Relax before bed by taking a bath, reading a good book or listening to beautiful music.

5) Choose a Plan
Many people think fasting means a strict water fast. Some people even try to follow the model of some biblical heroes—no food or water, which can be dangerous. But there is more than one type of fast. Choose the one that is best for you.
Water fast. A strict water fast for more than two or three days is not recommended unless you can completely rest and are medically supervised.

People who should not do a strict water or juice fast include women who are pregnant or nursing, people who are anorexic or bulimic, anyone who is emaciated or underweight, and those who are on dialysis.
Be aware of medications and their effects while you fast. For example, a vegetable juice fast can lower your blood pressure quickly, so you would need to cut back on medication, for which you should seek your physician’s advice. People with diabetes or hypoglycemia can modify a vegetable juice fast and include green smoothies made with avocado for extra protein and fat. This would also be my recommendation for anyone who is elderly or weak.

What is an Alkaline/Electric Plant-Based Lifestyle Inspired by Dr. Sebi?

Is it the same as vegan or vegetarian diet?

What’s the difference?

Does this sound familiar? Don’t worry, many others are asking the same questions. There’s a lot of confusion about the difference between alkaline/electric plant-based and vegan.

There’s a couple key distinctions. Let’s take a look at food…

An alkaline/electric plant-based lifestyle is one that is based on the methodology and protocols of Dr. Sebi. This includes the consumption of natural whole plant foods the create the least amount of mucus in the body, including vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds. As the name implies, it is a lifestyle with natural plant foods as the focus rather than a processed food or animal-based diet. Processed and animal-based more accurately describe the diet of westernized societies and this type of food consumption creates a very acidic pH and has grave consequences overtime.

Dr. Sebi established a new standard in how we approach and select foods. Most often an alkaline/electric plant-based lifestyle is referring to one that is 100% plants and as we have learned in Dr. Sebi’s lectures he even advocated the use of the black bee honey in both medicinal and nutritional consumption. An alkaline/electric plant based lifestyle also focuses on the use of electric herbs to aid the body in healing and restoring itself from an acidic pH to one that is alkaline.

A vegan diet, on the other hand, is one that eliminates the consumption of any other sentient being or their by-products. This means no animal flesh (beef, poultry or fish), no dairy products, no eggs and no honey   I love how Dick Gregory, put it: “I don’t eay anything that can fart, doodoo, pee, or screw”

Depending who you ask, honey may or may not be an acceptable ingredient for vegans. A vegetarian diet comes with much more variety. Vegetarians generally don’t eat animal flesh, but are ok with dairy products and/or eggs. Ultimately, they limit their animal consumption based on what they are comfortable with. For instance some people call themselves pesco-vegetarians, meaning they include fish in their vegetarian diet.

A key piece to note in reference to vegans is when you look under the covers you begin to realize it is not as healthy as many may believe.  The foods we consume have to be more than ethically and morally correct. The foods we consume must resonate with our molecular structure, it must create an alkaline environment that will provide us with an optimal level of living. Many vegan are not necessarily eating whole, plant foods. In most cases a vegan consumes a very acidic diet that includes many unnatural foods. potatoes and other starchy foods, many processed snack foods and unnatural beverages can all be vegan. The food industry has caught on to the growing acceptance of a vegan diet, and thus vegan junk food and packaged meals has become easily accessible and increasingly palatable. These animal-free foods are still loaded with sugars, chemicals, fatty and harmful oils and un-natural salt  and thousands of other non animal additives with harmful effects on the body.  These man-made ingredients are not just appealing, but are often powerfully addictive. You can see that a vegan diet does not necessarily equate with a healthy diet.

In all honesty, an alkaline/electric whole food, plant-based lifestyle is not without room for further growth and expansion. Unfortunately the creator of this movement has passed but his legacy continues through millions of people that know the importance of selecting foods based on our genetic structure as well as for the benefit of achieving alkalinity.

It is important for me to say, this lifestyle is not perfect but I will echo Dr. Sebi by saying the foods on the nutritional guide are the best of the worst foods we have. There are foods included on the nutritional guide that are naturally occurring hybrids like kale, with gluten such as the ancient grains spelt, kamut and rye  and with  small amounts of starch such as the garbanzo beans/chickpeas but this is by far healthier than a vegan diet consisting of highly processed foods neither resonating with our DNA or creating an alkaline environment for our bodies to thrive in.

The good thing about the word vegan in many cases represents eating a diet without meat and with lots of fruits, vegetables, nuts, legumes and seeds. This is helpful in transitioning a person from vegan to alkaline/electric plant based, inspired by Dr. Sebi.  It is also helpful to use the word vegan when you are in most non vegan eateries because of what most non vegans believe the word to mean “frutis & veggies”. We are still making strides to get the word Alkaline/ Electric into our homes so that more and more people will know the importance of eating to restore the body to its optimal level of functioning. If you are getting tired of using chickpeas to make your breakfast scramble then I have the thing for you. If you can’t use chickpeas due to fibroids and just want to eat less of them, then I have the ingredient for you!
Soy as we know is not recommended for consumption no matter how they dress it up or package it. This recipe is traditionally made with either soy milk or dairy milk in some cultures, but in the African Bio- Mineral culture – created by Dr. Sebi I am beginning a new tradition using hemp seed milk.

Hemp Seed Crumble – Recipe

  • 1 cup hemp seed hearts
  • 3 cups of spring water
  • blend to make milk
  • place in a sauce pan and boil and stir lightly the entire time
  • The milk will begin to form and may even begin to curdle
  • After the milk begins to bubble reduce the heat to a simmer and squeeze in 2 key limes (remove seeds)
  • 2 Key lime squeezed – this is needed to make the milk curdle
  • Allow the mixture to cool and pour it into a fine strainer (place cheesecloth over the strainer) and sit it over a bowl to catch the liquid.
  • In the strainer you will see lots of curdled hemp seeds milk and this is what is used to make the crumble.
  • After about 2 minutes to allow most of the water to drain off, pick up the cheesecloth with the curds inside and twist to remove all excess liquids.
  • You will be left with the curds that will then be used in your breakfast scramble.

 

Make sure to order hemp seeds and have them delivered to your home before you run out!

There’s a common misconception that an alkaline vegan lifestyle is also an expensive one, but that is totally up to the individual budget.  The wonderful thing about being an alkaline vegan is that it cuts out a large percentage of eating processed foods as well as eating out. When you purchase foods on impulse and foods out of  season , a  alkaline vegan lifestyle can definitely break the bank. If an omnivore ate nothing except filet mignon, lobster and dined out daily, that would get pretty expensive too, right?

The following tools will equip anyone on this path with eating a variety of alkaline vegan foods, purchasing essentials, to stocking a vegan pantry without maxing out your food budget: eat real food, and cook from scratch when you can. Now you may be thinking that sounds easier than done, but hold up there are more tools to help: Here are some tips and tricks for eating a healthy, alkaline vegan lifestyle without spending excessive amounts of money or spending all dy.

1. Cook from Scratch

Cooking from scratch probably sounds time-consuming, but with a bit of planning it’s very easy to work this into your schedule. Pre-processing your food can go a long way. I don’t mean canning, though. I mean soaking beans and chopping veggies the night before

. If you know you want to make a bean dish, soak them overnight to speed up cooking time. It’s so much easier to make a meal after a long day when some of the prepwork is already done.

2.  Essential Cooking Tools

The right tools can help you save a ton of time and money in the kitchen. Here are the things my kitchen would be empty without:

  • Rice cooker. Get one that includes a steamer basket. You won’t be sorry.
  • Slow cooker. Choose one that’s the right size for your family. If there are just two of you, you don’t need a giant slow cooker. For a big family, size it up so that you can cook a whole meal in there.
  • Food processor or blender. Mincing garlic and making sauces is a breeze if you have a good food processor.
  • Juice Machine: Juicing fresh fruits and fresh vegetables are a part of the vegan lifestyle and although it is not necessary it will be beneficial.
  • Crockpot: Lunch sized it’s perfect for carrying meals to work or while traveling. Easy to use  and a no worry mindset about warming meals and it also helps to totally avoid the microwave.

3. Cooking Low Maintenance Meals

What’s a low maintenance meal? It’s one that doesn’t necessarily cook quickly, but it doesn’t involve a lot of standing over the stove, either. Your food can cook unattended while you handle household chores and spend time with your family or friends. Here are some low maintenance meal ideas:

  • Put your grain of choice with enough water to cook into the bottom of your rice cooker, then layer veggies and garbanzo beans into the top. Turn the cooker on, and it makes the whole meal while you do other things.
  • Toss beans, veggies, broth, onions, and spices into the slow cooker and let it go.
  • Cook up some pasta on the stove and toss with a quick nut cheese or pesto for a fast meal. Up the health value by tossing in some steamed veggies, like dandelions greens, and mushrooms.

4. Cook Big Batches

If you’re going to spend time in the kitchen, make it productive! Instead of cooking enough for just one meal, make enough so that you’ll have some leftovers. You can bring these for lunch the next day or reheat them for a super quick dinner later on in the week.

You can also do batch cooking on the weekends, preparing a few dishes to keep in the fridge for busy evenings. Casseroles, pasta salads, and roasted veggies are a few great staples to have on hand for weeknight meals. While roasted veggies might not make a whole meal, it is an awesome compliment to most meals.

5. Grow Your Own

Not only is growing your own food gratifying, it can help take the strain off of your grocery budget. Even if all that you can manage is a few herb plants, growing food instead of buying it will save you money! Think you don’t have the space? Try going vertical! Vertical gardens are a great way for apartment dwellers or folks who don’t have a lot of land to maximize food output.

6. Shop the Farmers Market and Buy in Bulk

You might think that farmers markets are expensive, but that’s not always true. A recent study showed that it’s actually cheaper to shop at the farmer’s markets.

Buying in bulk is one of the easiest ways to save money at the grocery store. Hit your store’s bulk bins for some real savings! You can get as much or as little as you want, and bulk items are cheaper because you’re paying for the food, not the packaging.

You may also want to consider joining a local wholesale store to stock up on grains, nuts, oils and other items like fruits and vegetables.

A Reflection of My Transition to Dr. Sebi’s African Bio-Mineral Therapy Program

A year ago I shared this story with one of my Face book groups and a year later it still holds true and thought I would share this today!

I have been asked if this path is hard and what changes have I noticed since embarking on Dr. Sebi’s African Bio Mineral Therapy approach to eating. Right away I have to say this path hasn’t been hard nor boring. I am enjoying my new taste buds!!! It has been amazing to see the changes that are occurring with me overall.

For those that know me, know how much I like sweets and how I would often give up a full meal just to balance out eating dessert. I still enjoy sweet treats and I still eat sweet treats! The difference is I don’t have to skip dinner to have dessert.

Nothing that I have encountered has been difficult to embrace. Once I fully got it and realize how harmful the traditional foods I consumed were to my body and to my futures quality of life, it was a no brainier I had to begin to eat to live.

Do I miss eating certain foods? Like red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting? Absolutely not!!! I would not have imagined ever saying no I don’t miss one of my past favorite deserts but I know I can have any dessert I want. The only difference being conscious of my pH being alkaline deserts aren’t going to lead to my demise but quite the opposite, there going to lead to my excellent health!!

3 Things to Know About the Young Thai Coconuts

If it were possible I would consume a fresh coconut daily. Growing up I remember seeing coconuts in the home from time to time but they were always the brown older coconuts. I began consuming coconuts again and this time I ate the young jelly coconuts that had the skin shaved down to make it easier to open. A few days ago I received information from an Admin (Nia Swanks) with the Alkaline Vegan Girls public Face Book group with some hidden truths about the shaved young jelly coconuts. I will admit  I heard something about  this a while back but never to this magnitude. Here are 3 things to consider:

  1. To begin the shaved coconuts being sold are preserved with a chemical in order for them to survive being transported via a 30 day or more trip from Thailand. The scary fact is the chemicals that they are sprayed with may be entering the coconut shell as well as cross contamination when they are being opened. When you open a coconut you will always find a soft spot on the coconut to gain easy access, almost like the soft spot of a new baby’s skull.

  2. As if that information isn’t bad enough there is more trickery going on in the coconut industry. As I began to research this subject for myself I discovered how HYBRID coconuts are big business throughout the world and especially in Thailand where our beloved shaved young jelly coconuts originate from. Throughout history, coconuts experienced hardships from disease and natural disasters that left many of the coconut trees in a vulnerable state if not near extinction. The world government decided to aid these countries through planting hybrid coconut trees with the naturally growing coconuts in an attempt to prevent the coconut from being extinct. I was able to identify one of the hybrid trees by the name of MayPan coconut as well as a hybrid coconut company (Deejay Farms, coconut breeding company) that supplies many hybrid coconut farmers in Thailand as well as other warm climate countries. This company has provided much wealth to those that breed their coconuts due to the high yield and the sweet taste. They pride themselves on using chemicals to grow their coconuts to yield record high totals.

  3. As I continued to research this information I learned another aspect of consuming these coconuts involves monkey slavery. Monkey slavery usually occurs on hybrid farms in Thailand as well as in Indonesia. The monkeys are used to work 7 days a week, 8 hour shifts a day and they are used to pick up to 1,000 coconuts a day.  The monkeys are stolen as babies from their moms and brought into slavery and trained to become coconut pickers. It’s reported that chances are if the coconuts come from hybrid coconut farms from Thailand or Indonesia monkey were abused in the process.

 

Here is an excerpt from: Interview with Sondra Tatum a natural foo-dist.

“What are some of the main differences between your organic Thai coconuts and the standard non organic young coconut.

There are two main differences, one is in the growing and the other is in the processing. First the coco’s I send are grown without chemicals and second they are are processed without any chemical dips.

Note: If the young coconut you are consuming is white it is dipped in chemicals!!! Not just once but many times. I’ve seen the process myself. The workers wear protective clothing when they process the coconuts. They wear heavy aprons and heavy gloves. They use long poles with wire baskets on the end to remove the coconuts from the dips so they do not touch them.

A natural coconut husk turns brown within minutes of husking so when the conventional processing takes place the coconut is immediately dipped in their chemical(s) of choice as soon as the husk is removed, then the coconut is sent to the processing plant where it is polished or trimmed and dipped again in their chemical(s) of choice. The last dip (this makes 3 dips total) is when the coconut is ready for packing, it is dipped again then wrapped for transport. It is a sad process to watch and the workers themselves try to touch the cocos as little as possible, if at all.

I know many believe the young Thai coconuts they eat in Raw food restaurants are good for them but trust me they are not! Also a lot of their food contains the coconut water from treated coconuts. I also know many believe a certain test that was done came back pure, but it did not. I saw the test results myself and there were trace amounts of formaldehyde in that test in the fine print. If you believe trace amounts are not harmful to you that is your choice but believe me it like a girl saying she is a little bit pregnant it just cannot be that way. It is so, or it is not. All white young Thai coconuts are treated with dips of various chemicals before transport and most, if not all are grown with chemical fertilizers with hormones added for good measure. I’ve seen it with my own eyes.

The soft eye of the coconut is very sensitive and very soft. If a coconut is dipped the chemicals they will enter the coconut through the soft eye. No doubt about it. The soft eye is mothers natures way for the coconut to reproduce, it is where the sprout grows out from to make a new tree and it is soft enough for the sprout to exit and grow into a tree.”

Where can we purchase fresh coconuts? If you are in the Florida area there are coconut farms there. Also fresh coconuts husks on are available in some Caribbean markets, and international stores as well. I have located another method involving frozen fresh organic coconuts that are shipped.
